Urinary Tract
Infection (UTI)
Symptoms of UTI : - a strong persistent urge to urinate
- a burning sensation when urinating - blood in the urine (hematuria) or strong- smelling, cloudy urine - frequent small amounts of urine
Risk factors: - Sex: Up to one in five women will develop a
bladder infection over a lifetime. A key reason is their anatomy. Women have a shorter urethra than men have, which cuts down on the distance bacteria must travel to reach the bladder. - Anything that impedes the flow of urine (for
example stones, if urine flows back from bladder to kidneys etc.)
